7 Days Northern Circuit Route

Trip Overview

The Northern Circuit stands out as Mount Kilimanjaro’s latest and most extensive route. Originating from the Londorossi Gate in the West, it initially traces the same path as the Lemosho route for the initial two days. Departing from the more conventional Southern Circuit via Barranco Valley, the Northern Circuit takes a unique turn after crossing the Shira plateau, veering north near Lava Tower. This less-trodden route then encircles the serene northern slopes, eventually leading to the eastern side of the mountain.

Distinguished by its extended length, the Northern Circuit demands a minimum of eight or nine days for completion. An eight-day trek forgoes the additional acclimatization day typically spent at Shira Camp 2, progressing directly to Moir Camp, contributing to a distinctive and challenging Kilimanjaro experience.
